Micro Fiction: A story in 99 words

Christmas Eve

Karen woke up on the sofa under a blanket.  Smiling, she looked across to her husband who was asleep in his favourite armchair.
“Tim, it’s 5am - the kids will be awake soon.”
Wearily they got themselves upstairs and ready for bed.  By the time she’d looked in on the children Tim was almost asleep when she crawled into bed.
“Thanks for doing the children’s stockings - and putting the blanket over me.”
“Hmm?  I didn’t.” he whispered sleepily.
Too tired to question it, Karen fell back to sleep with the faint sound of bells ringing in her ears.
